Happy new year Kerr Kay.

Haha, you want a DSLR?
Hmm, consider getting the D40.. a pretty good beginner prosumer DSLR.
The "background blur thingy"'s done with a small aperture, which is the hole in which light enters your lens... get a DSLR and I'll teach you. =)

Lol, yeah, the price of DSLR's have gone down considerably but are still pretty expensive. Get a good compact camera and practise first, that's what I did. Then if you find that you REALLY REALLY love taking pics (not just that you've had the interest for a long, long time), only consider getting a DSLR.

I'm really glad you like my pics!! =)

I love the photo of the little boy and that, um, flashlight?

Very contrasting photo, with the light and the shadows and all.

Nice photoblog by the way!
